Before weddings and portraits, there was this: chasing light across mountains, jungles and coastlines from the Sierras to Southeast Asia. These photographs come from those trips, and they're still what fuels my passion.
How these are made
Most of these images are HDR, short for "high dynamic range." I shoot the same scene several times at different exposures and blend them together. That way the bright sky and the deep shadows both hold their detail, closer to what the eye actually sees standing there. More on the process in my blog post on HDR art photography.
